Navy Yard is bounded by Interstate 395 to the north, South Capitol Street to the west, and the Anacostia River to the south and east. Navy Yard gets its name from the Naval Historical Center, which is housed within Navy Yard. Residents who travel to Navy Yard do so by the Green Line on the Washington metro, at stop Navy Yard â€“ Ballpark Metro.
Navy Yard has receieved a huge facelift since as recent as the 1990′s. The area was home to a large commercial and adult entertainment which is no longer in the area. Thanks to the placement of the new Washington Nationals stadium, rapid growth has taken place and residential and new commercial projects have been undertaken. This area has over 9,000 residential units! There are four public parts underway, and the Anacostia Riverwalk trail system.
