The largest residential area of DC is Capitol Hill. As well as being home to several residents, this is the home of the United States Congress. With over 35,000 people in under two square miles, this is also one of the most dense areas of Washington DC. Capitol Hill is a middle class area of Washington DC, but recently has become more and more wealthy. New businesses catering towards high dollar customers have continued to move in, which have ultimately forced lower income residents out.
To the east of Capitol Hill lies the Anacostia River, to the north is the H Street corridor, to the south are the Southeast/Southwest Freeway and the Washington Navy Yard, and to the west are the National Mall and the city’s central business district.
